Duette® Architella® Honeycomb Shades in Semiahmoo
Soft Light, Open Water Views and Cordless Ease
Bindi & Bird recently completed a Hunter Douglas Duette® Architella® honeycomb shade project for a waterfront home in Semiahmoo, and the finished rooms glow with soft, even light.
The homeowners wanted a clean, consistent look across tall living room windows, French doors and a row of upper windows, with privacy where they needed it and the water view right where they wanted it. Duette Architella with LiteRise® cordless lift brought all of it together.

Our Pick
Why We Chose Duette Architella
Duette Architella is Hunter Douglas’s honeycomb within a honeycomb. Each pleat holds an extra inner cell, which adds a cozy layer at the glass and makes it a lovely choice for big windows near the water.
For this home we chose the Elan light filtering fabric in Journal, a soft, warm neutral, with a ¾” pleat. The fabric fills the room with a gentle glow, keeps the space bright on gray coastal days and pairs beautifully with the white trim, warm wood floors and stone fireplace.
Every shade uses LiteRise® cordless lift. Simply guide the bottom rail up or down, and the shade stays exactly where you set it for a clean, uncluttered window.
Best of Both
Privacy Below, the View Above
On the view windows and French doors we used Top-Down/Bottom-Up shades, so the homeowners can lower the top of the shade and keep the water and sky in full view.
Light, privacy and the view, all at once.
The lower half of the window stays softly covered, the upper half opens to the bay, and the room feels bright and relaxed all day. When evening comes, the shades raise or lower to whatever height feels right.
Around the Home
One Look From Room to Room

French doors. Shades mounted right on each door move with it, and the top-down feature keeps the patio and water in view.

Upper windows. Matching Duette shades on the vaulted wall soften the afternoon light and give the whole great room a finished, cohesive look.
Made for You
Custom Window Coverings in Semiahmoo
Semiahmoo homes are built around the water, so we look for window coverings that celebrate the view while keeping rooms comfortable and private. Sometimes that means honeycomb shades like these. Other homes call for screen shades, shutters, drapery or motorized shades.
For this project, Duette Architella gave the homeowners exactly what they wanted: soft light, open views, everyday privacy and a beautiful, consistent look. Learn more about our work in Semiahmoo.
